DEATH

This was written in 1982 and recorded in 2017.
"Death comes sneaking round me
When I'm alone at night,
So close I could reach and touch the thing.
But I keep my arms and hands and feet
Tight beneath my winding sheet,
So death can't grab a piece of me to sting.

He's over by the window,

I can hear the shadows creep.
Will he make his ultimate move tonight?
Do not let your eyelids droop,
Beware the siren sleep,
Or your eyes may nevermore behold the light.

Is that the tap that's dripping,

The icy winds that shriek?
That clanking armour just a dustbin lid?
Or is that my mam and dad,
Come to fetch their little lad?
Funny how hearing the bed springs creak
Means bogeyman when you're a kid..."
